I live in Seattle with my husband, our three children, and our cat. We’re very active at Mount View Presbyterian Church (PCUSA) in South Seattle’s White Center community, where I serve as Music Director and occasionally preach. Everyone in my immediate family is active in church ministry: my brothers are both pastors, my dad is a deacon and Sunday School teacher, and my mom has been a church organist and accompanist for most of her life. I grew up going to church with my family, and as an adult, I have spent time in a variety of Baptist, Methodist, Lutheran, Christian & Missionary Alliance, and non-denominational charismatic churches. I am comfortable in all of the above settings. While my theological and spiritual formation is ongoing, I heartily affirm the Apostle’s Creed and the Nicene Creed.
I have written articles for Christianity Today, Discipleship Journal, Bible Study Magazine, Pray Magazine, Comment, and others, but my first career was acting. I have also worked in public relations and arts advocacy, and I enjoy speaking at conferences, workshops, retreats, and church worship services.
Some odds and ends about who I am: I love cooking and entertaining in my home. (My husband and I dream of having a dining room table that can seat twenty!) We are licensed foster parents, and I promote getting involved with foster care on my YouTube channel, “A Fostered Life.” I write songs, collect art, and get totally immersed in a good TV shows, movie, or book. I have stamps in my passport from El Salvador, China, Mexico, England, South Africa, India, and Nigeria, I’m always looking forward to my next trip across the border or overseas, and I truly live by the motto, “A stranger is a friend I haven’t met yet.”
